The topic that I chose on Public Health is immunization because there are diseases that can harm children or even kill them if they have not had their immunization shots. Immunization protects the children from diseases like the chickenpox, the measles, the whooping cough and the polio and etc.... Immunizations protect children also from serious complications such as deaf, blindness an meningitis. When a child is vaccinated it stops the spread of different diseases that can harm them or others. Parents need to make sure that their child is up on their shots. In other countries children die from diseases like measles, diphtheria because they have not been immunized. In the US most children have had their shots and their immune system is protected.
Ways that this information may impact my future work is that when working with children in a school setting thy must be up on their shots or they can not come to school until that is done or if the shot record is out of compliance the child must go to the local health department to get their shots updated.
